Wayne H Hampton

April 19, 1924 — March 19, 2015

Wayne H Hampton, April 19, 1924 – March 19, 2015.  One month before his 91st birthday our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.   Wayne was born April 19 in a log cabin in Joseph, Utah to Lafayette Hampton and Mary Martha Helquist.  He was the fifth of six children, a family of four brothers and two sisters, all of whom have preceded him in death.   Wayne grew up in Price, Utah.  He joined the Civil Conservation Corp (CCC) where he worked until he entered the Army in 1942 and was deployed in the Pacific Theater.  He fought in the Infantry in New Guinea and the Philippines.  After being discharged from the Army he returned to Price.  He enlisted in the Air Force where he served until his retirement in 1968.  He met and married the love of his life, Stella, with whom he shared life, love, and family for 64 years.  They moved to Bountiful following his military retirement from the Air Force and have resided there since.  Wayne and Stella served as Temple workers for 7 years at the Salt Lake Temple and a full time temple mission to help open the new St. Louis, MO Temple.  Wayne and Stella were avid square/round dancers for 22 years in several clubs in Davis and Weber counties.  Wayne enjoyed woodworking , fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with family and friends.  The joys of his life were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Stella Lavon Bitton, his children, Carl Wayne Hampton, Yvonne (Grant) Phillips, Kevin Lafayette (Diana) Hampton.  10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will  be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the Bountiful 37th ward chapel 1450 North 400 East, Bountiful.  Friends and family may visit Monday, between 6 and 8 PM at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main St., Bountiful; or Tuesday before the funeral. between 9:45 and 10:45 at the church. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
