Wayne O Westergard

June 14, 1935 — April 22, 2015

Wayne O Westergard, age 79, of Woods Cross, Utah passed away April 22, 2015 in the presence of his loving family. Born June 14, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Riley Denning Westergard and Iris M. Oswald. Wayne grew up in Iona, Idaho and enjoyed the life of a farmer and living in a small town. He was active in sports throughout school and was Student Body President of his high school. Wayne met his sweetheart Sharon B Schwieder in kindergarten and after high school graduation married her in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He graduated from Utah State in engineering and enjoyed a long career as an electrical engineer working on satellites and defense systems for the same Defense Contractor; he loved to solve complex problems. Active in the LDS church serving as a bishop, stake president, welfare missionary and nursery leader. Wayne enjoyed life. He loved fly fishing, all sports (playing or watching his kids and grandkids), genealogy, hunting golf balls on Star Valley ranch, gardening, whistling and his 3X5 index cards. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jean and a sweet granddaughter Jakelle Michelle Westergard. Wayne is survived by his loving wife; his children Richard (Carrie) Westergard- AZ; Allen (Sylvia) Westergard- VA; Lynn (Jana) Westergard- AZ and Karin (Todd) Smith- UT; siblings Ray Westergard, Karla Burtenshaw and JoAnn Ball; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday April 27th at the Woods Cross LDS chapel located at 790 West 1500 South, Woods Cross beginning at 11:00 am. The family is hosting viewings at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main on Sunday April 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
