Wendell H. Giles of Bountiful, Utah passed away on August 27, 2022.  He was born on April 5, 1929 in Tremonton, Utah to Alma Reed and Wanda L Heusser Giles.  He was the eldest of four siblings.
Wendell graduated from Bear River High School where he excelled in athletics.  He was the quarterback of the football team and also played basketball.
He earned a Business Degree from Utah State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Army ROTC.  He made many lifelong friends during his years in Logan.  He also met an Idaho girl, Bonnie Rae Harris, who became his wife on December 21, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple.  They were blessed with two daughters, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Wendell was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United Stated Army Quartermaster Corps.  He and Bonnie spent their first few months of married life at Fort Lee, Virginia.  He then received orders to serve in the Korean War from 1952-1953.  After returning from Korea, he served in the United States Army Reserves and retired a Colonel.  His military career spanned 40 years, one month, and 26 days of service to the Nation that he dearly loved.
In his professional life he worked as a Purchasing Agent in Defense Contracts for Sperry Rand, Univac, Unisys, and L-3, retiring in 1989.
Wendell and Bonnie enjoyed their retirement years spending winters in St. George.  They loved taking tours with old friends and made many new friends during their travels.
Wendell enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved hunting, fishing and camping.  He planned many pack trips into the Unita mountains with his horses, friends and family.
As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he served faithfully in all that he was called to do.
Wendell was kind, gentle, positive, and had a good word for all he met.  He had a unique sense of humor.  He was a joy to be around and will be missed.

Private family services were held.
