Wendy Lyn Gillins Mortenson, 69, of Syracuse, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on November 28th, 2022.
Wendy was born on April 28th, 1953 to Jack Curtis Brown and Patricia Jean Bell Brown in Richfield, Utah. The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1960’s where she finished her high school education and started a family. She later spent many years in New Harmony and Cedar City, Utah areas before moving on to Syracuse in 2012 where she met and married her beloved Scott Mortenson.
Wendy loved every aspect of nature and you could often find her gathering flowers and veggies in the yard or discovering rocks and twigs on her nature walks. She had a sweet smile and presence that was felt by all that came into contact with her. Wendy was kind to everyone…even those she had just met. Talented at painting, sewing, and crafting, she leaves behind many beautiful creations as parts of her legacy.
Wendy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, Scott; daughter, Lauren Traveller; four stepchildren, Kelly (Jason) Van Orden, Steven (Whitney) Mortenson, Ryan (Adriana) Mortenson, and Michael (Kassie) Mortenson; sister, Debbie (Ron) DeJuncker; two brothers, Todd Brown, and Mitchell Brown; sister-in-law, Claire Lynn (Jim) Taylor; and eleven grandchildren, Adam, Ashley, Andrew, Koji, Mie, Ava, Sebastian, Ollie, Liam, Isaac, and Kaiya.
A service to celebrate Wendy’s life will be held at Russon Mortuary, 1585 West 300 South, Syracuse, Utah on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 11 AM. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to the service. Her final resting place will be the Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, Utah.
