Wendy Sue Hawkes

July 16, 1953 — November 17, 2014

Wendy Sue Graham Hawkes 61, of Bountiful, UT passed away peacefully at home Monday, November 17, 2014 from complications of cancer.
She was born July 16, 1953, in Rexburg, Idaho to Gilbert Clay and Renee Pocock Graham. She was raised on a farm in Rigby, Idaho as the first of 7 children. After graduating from Rigby High School, she attended Ricks College and earned her Associate’s Degree.
At Ricks she fell in love with her husband Michel Blaine Hawkes. While he served a mission for the LDS church she lived in Michigan working for Ford Motor Company. She later worked at Ricks College and BYU.
She married her sweetheart, Michel, on Nov 16, 1974 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Her greatest joy and time were spent in raising her 6 children. Wendy has always focused outward and her children were the first to feel her love through selfless service.
As a lover of books and music she actively participated in book clubs and choirs. Wendy enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, the Utah Jazz and BYU Cougars. Her greatest joy was her beautiful grandchildren. Health issues did not deter her from lovingly supporting her grandchildren, including attending their activities. Wendy expressed her love through the giving of thoughtful gifts and the sharing of her time and talents.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Wendy served quietly and faithfully in her many ward and stake callings. She loved unconditionally as the Savior does.
Wendy is preceded in death by her best friend and mother Renee Graham. She is survived by her husband, Michel Blaine Hawkes; her children, Emily (Brian) Smith, Amy (Brandon) Pace, Shon (Breeana) Hawkes, Adam (Katie) Hawkes, Megan Mabey, and Matt (Siena) Hawkes; father Clay Graham; brothers David (Susie) Graham, Keith (Stephanie) Graham, Lynn (Robin) Graham, Jeff Graham, Paul (Tammy) Graham; and her sister, Nancy Dye; and 27 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Bountiful 13th LDS chapel, 1350 North 650 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bountiful 13th Ward Building. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
