Weymouth William (Andy) Anderson peacefully passed away on September 5, 2012. He was comfortable and alert to the last and was giving his best effort to recover from a fall.
Weymouth was born in Swedetown, a small suburb in northern Salt Lake City on June 10, 1922 to Henry Carl Anderson and Lenora Newbold. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
A graduate of West High School, he joined the United States Navy in the spring of 1943. He served his country during World War Two aboard the USS Corregidor as a Signal Man until his honorable discharge in January of 1946. He was proud of his military service and spoke and wrote extensively about his experiences in the Navy.
Always a hard worker, Andy worked as a Fire Fighter for over 30 years for Salt Lake City as well as working in various foundries in Salt Lake City.
He married Margaret Corless and together they had 5 children. Christie Swenson, Sue Anderson, Michael Jo (Sam) Ungricht, Weymouth (Jill) Anderson and Barry (Becky) Anderson.
He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, who became the pride, joy and loves of his life. Andrea Park, Ancherie Swenson, Tiffiny Lee, Rayne Baskerville, Gretchen Adams, Colby Molotchick, Peter Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Brett Anderson, Brady Anderson, Michael Anderson and Bradley Anderson.
He also was the proud great grandpa of 19 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings, Douglas, Lamar, John and Darleen, as well as a grandson Colby.
Our family will miss our dad’s wonderful sense of humor, his gentleness, his loyalty, his support, his love of children, Old English Sheepdogs, neighbors and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah (295 North Main Street in Bountiful) on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the Mortuary and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
