Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Wilford Shreve Barlow, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2007 at the VA Nursing Homoe in Salt Lake City, UT. Born August 18, 1914 in Bountiful Utah, to Willard E. Barlow and Jessie Wright Barlow. He married his childhood sweetheart Gladys Ruth Miller in the Salt Lake Temple June 1, 1937. He was a lifelong resident of Bountiful, UT., and graduated from Davis High School 1934. He was a faithful member of the LDS church holding numerous callings including Scout Master, Elder?s Quorum President, Sunday School Superintendent and High Priest Group Leader and Counselor in the Bishopric. He had a great testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This was exemplified in the service he rendered in many capacities over the years. His love of country and patriotic spirit was evident throughout his life. He served in the National Guard for three years. During World War II he left behind a wife and two young sons to serve his country. His assignment in the US Navy took him across the Pacific to witness first hand the atomic ruins of Nagasaki, Japan. After the war he worked for one year as Superintendent at Wasatch Furniture before starting his own business. With his brother-in-law, Richard Miller, he started Barlow Upholstering and Furniture. He successfully operated this business in North Salt Lake for 35 years until he retired and sold the business in 1982. He had many loyal customers during those years that were attracted to the high quality custom furniture that was made to order. He is survived by his three sons, Larry, Alpine, UT; Dennis Pat No.Ogden, UT; Rick Judy Farmington, UT; 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Gladys, infant son Keith, sisters Thelma and Florence, and brothers Elmer and Ralph and daughter-in-law Lynne. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Canyon 2nd Ward, 3350 So. 100 E. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main and Monday at the church from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.prior to services. Dedication and military honors will follow services at Bountiful City Cemetery.
