Biography

Willard Stephen Knighton, Jr., age 76, died peacefully in his sleep, December 7, 2011 in Layton, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 8, 1935. He grew up in Salt Lake City and Bountiful. Graduated from Bountiful High after spending a year at Davis High School. He was the son of Wilma (Griffiths) Knighton and Willard Stephen Knighton, Sr. He married Marlene Martin of Bountiful, Utah August 10, 1963. They made their home and raised their family in Bountiful. Bill made his living as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Martin; and children: Robert Knighton (Laurie), Michael Knighton (Cindy), Steven Knighton (Jamie), Shelley Corn (Ray), Tammy Hyatt (Darrin), Jason Knighton (Cammy) and Amy Smith (Bill). Preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Knighton; mother, Wilma Griffiths Knighton; and father, Willard Stephen Knighton, Sr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
