William Brent Bird

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, William Brent Bird, passed away on February 9, 2017 in Bountiful, Utah. Bill was born on May 11, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rexford Harry and Mary Ellen Bryan Bird. He is a brother to ten siblings and the father of eight children.

Bill was called by many names (a.k.a.’s): Bill, Captain Bill, Billy, Wilhelm Vogal, Aunt Billy, Uncle Billy, but NEVER 'late for dinner!'

He was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Scotland, UK. After returning from his mission, Bill married his eternal companion, Joyice “Penny” E. Lewis on May 25, 1973 In the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He married Penny while he was serving his country in the US Navy.

Bill's wife was the light of his life. His family and faith were of utmost importance. Bill served in many callings within the church including: Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Ward & Stake Young Men’s, Temple Worker, Stake Activities Committee and Stake Sunday School Presidency. He was also very active in the scouting program.

Bill is survived by his wife Penny; his siblings: Joann, Donna, Bobby, and Danny; his children: Bryan, Aaron, Dawndria (Maher), Brent, Wayne, Janna (Muery), Mike, and Paul with six beautiful daughters-in-law and two handsome sons-in-law. His legacy also includes twenty-two and a turd most precious grandkids. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Mary Bird; and his siblings: Gerald, Oren, Paul, Ronny, MaryLou, and Dale.

Funeral services for Bill will be held, on Saturday, February 18, 2017 11:00 a.m. at the West Bountiful 7th Ward, 311 North 800 West, Bountiful, Utah. There will be a viewing Friday evening, February 17, 2017 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment: Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
