William Cardall Porter

Biography

Bill, our loving brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend, returned to his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 due to complications from congestive heart failure and diabetes. Bill was born November 28, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wendell Carroll Porter and Margaret Louise Cardall Porter. Bill graduated from Bountiful High School in 1958. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the West Central States Mission from 1960-1962. After graduating from Weber State College, he taught in the Davis School District for 30 years at Vae View, Boulton, and Washington Elementary schools. During his teaching career he was nominated as Teacher of the Year. Bill also served as a reserve police officer in Centerville, Utah for 6 years. In the LDS church, Bill served 2 stake missions, as a ward clerk, as a faithful home teacher, and in other callings. He was the Priesthood chorister of the Centerville 1st Ward at the time of his passing. Bill enjoyed rock hunting and had many experiences at Topaz Mountain. He loved animals. In his younger years, he raised chickens, goats, dogs, pigeons and many other animals. He enjoyed model trains, planes and rockets. Bill was an active member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Bill had many talents including gardening, photography, painting, playing music, and writing music.

Bill is survived by his sister Dorothy Eileen Porter Turnblom (Sylvan), and their children Christine Wilson (Tim), Brad Turnblom and Jennifer Turnblom; great-nieces and nephews Briahna Nelson (Derek), Kailie, Adam, Jacob, Makelle and Nickoli Wilson. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to all those who offered prayers, service, care and love in Bills behalf.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Centerville 1st Ward Chapel, 160 South 200 East. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
