William Dallas Dolar, born December 25, 1938 to Dallas and Hazel Dolar, passed away on December 13, 2019 after a long struggle with cancer. “Grandpa Bill” as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by his parents Dallas and Hazel Dolar, his sister Baby Jane, and his son Kevin Jay.
Bill served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1968 and enjoyed the opportunity to see interesting places while serving his country. He transported and delivered freight for Motor Cargo and other trucking companies in the Salt Lake Valley. Bill worked many jobs to sustain his family and never shied away from difficult work.
He was well known for teaching grandkids and his nieces how to ride bicycles or drive a car in the nearest church or school parking lot, and is cherished for his excursions to 7-11 with those same children, sometimes all at once. Bill was fond of driving through the canyons, highways, unmarked roads, and dirt paths that made up the backcountry of the Western states. He appreciated the splendor of his natural surroundings, but also enjoyed trips to the cinema for a decent movie.
Though he wasn’t perfect, Bill had a great sense of humor and could often be heard laughing out loud at his own misadventures. He is survived by his two brothers, his three daughters and Son In Laws, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
