William Douglas Farley

September 6, 1949 — March 12, 2022

Our hero, William Douglas Farley died March 12, 2022 in Kaysville, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born September 6, 1949 in Salt Lake City to William Max and Hazel Farley. As a youth he loved all sports, hunting, and fishing. He never let us forget about his amazing grand slam home run in the little league baseball tournament. He was proud to be a South High Cub, graduating in 1967. He honorably served the Lord as a missionary in Brazil from 1968-1970. While attending a singles branch his heart was stolen by the fabulous Teresa Barry. They were married April 11, 1975 by Elder LeGrande Richards in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five amazing children. They all love their Dad and the adventures he would take them on.  He was always there to listen, to comfort, and to cheer us on in everything we did.

Bill graduated from Westminster College in 1983 in finance.  He worked for Northwest Pipeline/ Williams Company as a financial analyst for 28 years. After an early retirement, he joined his wife as a realtor for Mansell & Associates and then Coldwell Banker Realty. Bill also served for two terms on the Utah State Financial Board. He was appointed to his position by Governor Mike Leavitt. Bill always worked so hard for his family.

Bill loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was the World’s Greatest Home Teacher and missionary. He embraced and understood what ministering truly is. He always told everyone he met that they were a Child of God. He never judged your story. He treated everyone equally, full of love, and made you feel special. He was known for his constant service, big heart, ability to make anyone laugh, and who could forget his birthday calls with the enthusiastic singing in Portuguese, the language he learned as a missionary in Brazil.

Bill loved Baskin Robbins chocolate chip ice cream, Maddox chicken, the TV show Gunsmoke, hunting and fishing, watching all sports, playing catch with his children and grandchildren, attending BYU football games with his large bag of peanut M&Ms, Disneyland trips, drives in the mountains to go look for deer and to see the fall leaves, The Carpenters, pulling in all the neighbors garbage cans, handing out dollars to his grandchildren and the workers at the McDonalds drive thru, yelling “Return with Honor!” to his children as he dropped them off at school, and he absolutely adored his title as Papa to his 16 grandchildren. His last gift to us was escorting his 17th grandchild safely through the veil only five days after he passed. What a lucky baby!

Bill truly enriched each of our lives and made the world beautiful. We are blessed to be with him forever. We love you Dad and thank you for everything.

Bill is survived by his wife Teresa, children William (Vanessa) Farley, Jenny (Tim) Mason, Michael (Whitney) Farley, Rebecca (Jared) Flitton, and Julianne (Troy) Majoue, 17 grandchildren, sister Linda (Bob) Ith, brother David Farley, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Kaysville 7th Ward, located at 331 S. 50 W. Kaysville, Utah 84037. The viewing will be at that location from 11:00-12:30 with the funeral at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at the Kaysville Cemetery.
