William Kenneth Ethington beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023. He was born December 31, 1927 in Chandler, Arizona, to his loving parents James William Ethington and Zenna Kartchner Ethington as the oldest of three children. William (known by Kenneth through life) was an example of strength, kindness, and dedication that will be cherished by his family.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents as well as his two brothers Lester and Elden Ethington and his half-brother Walter Erastus (W.E.) Ethington.
Kenneth was a life-long devoted member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings.
In Kenneth's formative years, he was grateful for being raised on a dairy ranch in Arizona and enjoying every minute of it. He appreciated learning the value of working hard and doing his best. A passionate career as a Greyhound bus driver filled Kenneth's day with purpose and joy for 30 years. He thrived in connecting with people through all walks of life enjoying the journeys and destinations he encountered along the way. His friendly demeanor and warm smile made him a favorite among the passengers. Not only was Kenneth a skilled bus driver, but he also possessed a remarkable talent for buying, fixing up, and selling depressed real estate properties. With his hands he could transform properties into places of beauty.
He was an avid watcher of Fox News and watching DVD's from World War II.
As a loving father, Kenneth leaves a rich legacy of love and family. He was blessed with eight children whom he loved dearly: Kenna Swaner-Wagner (Dick), Pat Jensen, Launa Thompson (Rick), Lyle Ethington, Kevin Ethington (Debra), Aaron Ethington (Darcie), Lorna Downs (James), Brent Ethington. The family was the center of his world.
Kenneth's true joy came from his large and loving family. He took pride in his posterity boasting 32 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 16 great great-grandchildren.
Kenneth will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, his sense of humor, and hard work ethic.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday morning 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to services.
