William Robert Bireley

On February 5th, 2020, William Robert Bireley passed from this life and onto his next adventure. Most of us knew him as Bill. For almost 20 years, he courageously battled cancer.  During the last several months of Bill’s life, he was surrounded by compassionate care and love in the home of his daughter Monica, her husband Jason Woodland, and their beautiful children. 

Bill lived a very full life that began on October 31, 1949 in North Hollywood, California. If there was sun and water around, you’d be sure to find Bill.  From the swim team, to surfing, to scuba diving, he couldn’t get enough.  He was a natural.  In the evenings, he was all about the movies. Growing up in North Hollywood and next to Universal Studios, he loved the talent and creativity of the movie and theatre industry.

After graduating from North Hollywood High School in 1967, he made the big move to Provo, Utah, after earning a collegiate scholarship to BYU for his swimming achievements. There he learned to love Utah’s diverse beauty and began his next athletic passion, skiing.  He became quite an expert skier.  It was there at BYU, he met his first wife, the charming and charismatic Phyllis Stegall.  Together they had two amazing daughters, Monica and Carol.  Later on, at the end of his twenties, he was enchanted by another beauty, the dazzling Miss Jannette Bailey.  Bill, Jannette, Monica and Carol were then married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1978.  Together he and Jannette brought into this world two brilliant sons, William and Christopher. 

In his career, Bill was forever a student and entrepreneur whose intellectual, spiritual and business focus was on self-actualization, personal development, and individual empowerment for thousands of clients. His endless passion was elevating others, helping them find the joy in their life, giving them tools to manage their life and creating new horizons for change.  He also passionately served on the Board of many Committees to continue to build education, arts and the theatre in his community.

Bill had two marvelous and philanthropic parents, Frank Woolsey Bireley and Harriett Christine Bireley.  Bill was the youngest of his two siblings, Christine Oliver and Frank Bireley Jr., who have all preceded him in death and are greeting Bill on the other side.

Surviving Bill in this life are his four children, Monica (Jason) Woodland, Carol Bireley, William (Adrienne) Bireley, and Christopher (Annie) Bireley.  His children were his pride and joy and all he talked about to his friends.  He also cherished his seven tremendous grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, and Jaxon Woodland; as well as Tristan, Scarlett, Jack, and Luke Bireley.  And we can’t forget his beloved, furry grand-puppies, Bronco, Snoopy, Khloe, Jasper, and Ivy.

Bill will be remembered for his love of life and always wanting to share his enthusiasm and love for all that this beautiful world had to offer with everyone he met.  His positivity and genuineness could be felt by all that knew him.  He was an unconditionally, loving friend to all!  His love and joy of life was never dampened no matter the trials he faced, even until his last day.  He often said, “I’m riding this wave as long as I can.”

Services for Bill will be held on February 22, 2020, in the LDS Church Building at:
1505 Whispering Meadow Lane
Kaysville, Utah 84037-9762

We will hold a Receiving Line for friends and family to come and visit with Bill’s family, located in the Relief Society Room, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.  The Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
