Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, William Baker Robinson, died January 8, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Having finished his work on the earth, he departed this world bound for the next with great anticipation. William was the 9th of 11 children born on October 4, 1926, in Oakley, Idaho to Loren J. and Rosetta B. Robinson.
William attended college under the Naval program. Following graduation, he was proud to serve his country for two years as a Naval Officer on the Aircraft Carrier USS Boxer.
He married the girl of his dreams, Thelma Rae Smith, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 2, 1949. His love for the temple was evidenced by his service as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for over 16 years. He served in numerous church callings, including Scoutmaster, Bishopric and High Counselor. He and Thelma received great joy from their service as missionaries at the Church College in Western Samoa where he taught mathematics for two years.
William received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and went on to receive two Masters degrees and a Doctorate degree in Mathematics and Education Administration. He worked in the Salt Lake City School District as a mathematics teacher, an administrator and as a curriculum specialist in the District Office. Many students acquired a love for mathematics under his tutelage.
