William Richard Woodland was born February 2, 1938 in Logan, Utah, to William Wesley Woodland and Olive Victoria Holm. He grew up in Arimo, Idaho. He served in the Eastern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Richard graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Utah State University. He married Nedra Thorp Poppleton in the Logan Temple on June 29, 1962. He started working with the Church Educational System in Pocatello in 1962. Richard received a Masters Degree from Brigham Young University. He was transferred to the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City in 1967, and they moved to Bountiful, Utah.
They had five children, Tom, Cynthia, Scott, Jill and David. He received a PHD from the University of Utah. Nedra passed away on February 1, 1987.
Richard married Teresa Scott on November 12, 2004. in the Salt Lake Temple. They relocated to St. George, Utah, in 2023.
Richard is survived by his wife, Teresa, and children: Tom (Cindy) , Cynthia (David) Prows, Scott (Barbie), Jill (Kenton) Braegger, David (Charity) and fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. prior to services.
