Biography

Willis (Bill) Ray Cutler was born February 22, 1921 in Salt Lake City Utah to Ray Temple Cutler and Kate Winifred Willis Cutler. He joined his eternal companion on November 28, 2014 at the age of 93. Bill served the Lord as a missionary in the Southwestern US Spanish speaking area. Afterward he proudly served his country as a US Navy Corpsman in the Pacific theater during WWII. During this time he met and married the love of his life, E. Laura Nielson. They were married March 1, 1945 and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple. After the war he completed his college education while raising his family. They moved to Denver Colorado where he taught elementary school for more than thirty years. Bill loved children and they loved him. Aside from raising their own family Bill and Laura fostered several children. Bill served his church in many callings, but most often as a Ward or Stake Clerk. After retiring he and his dear wife moved back to Bountiful and focused on genealogy, served an LDS mission in the Philippines and spent several years serving in the Salt Lake and Bountiful temples. He was called to serve as a counselor in his ward bishopric when he was in his late 80’s. During retirement he was a crossing guard for many years, and continued teaching as a tutor. Bill is survived by his son, Robert W. (Luane) Cutler, daughter, Lauralyn Huffaker, 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, siblings Marge (Clyde) Page, Kaye (Ted) Bradford, Joseph (Lorraine) Cutler, Sylvia Salisbury, and sister-in-law Fern Nielson. Bill was preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart and parents, a sister-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law.
