Willis Allen Lee age 80 passed away on March 6, 2025. He was born May 12, 1944, in Dunn, Harnett, North Carolina, and was the son of Fulton Braddy Lee and Mandy Irene McLamb Lee.
Willis grew up in Benson, Meadow Township, North Carolina, and graduated from Meadow High School in Meadow, North Carolina. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served as a jet engine mechanic for seven years. He served for a year in Vietnam.
He married LaRae Walker in 1970. He is survived by his wife, LaRae, his children, a son, Benjamin Joseph Lee and a daughter, Kimberly Anne Griggs, and four grandchildren, Ashton Kaleb, Kairi Anne, Olette Rowan and Soren Willis Griggs. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
After leaving the Air Force, he moved to Utah. He enrolled in Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, and then completed a Batchelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He worked for various companies, and then ran his own business.
He had a great love for his extended family, and was always so happy to be with them when he visited family in North Carolina. He loved the times when he could go back and the family gathered together for family reunions, and also for class reunions that he was able to attend.
He is survived by nieces, Katrina Lee and Rachel Lee, Vickie and Emily Dupree, brothers and sisters-in law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fulton Braddy Lee and Mandy Irene McLamb Lee, and a brother, Fulton Mack Lee. Willis married Carol Ann Ellis in 1965, she died in 1967.
Willis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and will be remembered for his devotion in attending his meetings and being a faithful home teacher. He loved the Lord and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 2002, he developed heart problems, and this led to many years of health problems. During the hard times that followed, he met each health issue that came up cheerfully and with a strong determination not to let these prevent him from doing things that he wanted to do. He became a good example of relying on the Lord for help during the difficulties he faced, and despite the hardships he faced, he never gave up. Despite his health, he was always cheerful and happy to be around people. He enjoyed researching and writing articles.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Syracuse 10th Ward Chapel, 1469 W 700 S, Syracuse, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Russon Mortuary, 1585 W 300 S, Syracuse, Utah. There will also be a viewing Friday morning from 9:45 am to 10:45 am prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Corinne Cemetery.
