Wilma Roestel

April 27, 1926 — January 5, 2015

Wilma Scott Roestel passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015. She left behind her daughter, Donna, four grandsons, one granddaughter, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Joseph, in 1972 and her son, Michael, in 2003.
Wilma was the youngest in her family of four boys and two girls. She was born and raised in Florida and spent most of her adult years raising her family in California, where she worked as a grocery checker. She moved to Bountiful in 1982 and loved to visit California frequently. She quit working at age 64 to take care of her two grandchildren, which was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Wilma enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, liked going to the Senior Center in Bountiful, and relished researching her family’s genealogy. In her later years, Wilma lived at Welcome Home, where they learned quickly that to know her was to love her.
Wilma loved to help people; she was the most caring, generous, and thoughtful person we knew. She loved every minute of making her family happy (especially if it meant doing something crazy). She was enthusiastic, stubborn, and had a unique zest for life. She liked a good challenge and explored every new thing as it came along. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
The viewing will be held Saturday, January 10, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful from 1:00 to 1:45 with funeral services following at 2:00. After the funeral services, she will be buried next to her son, Michael, and nephew, John Jarvis, at Bountiful City Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, Wilma requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Wilma also requested that we celebrate her life and not wear black to the funeral.
