Wilma Jean Winter

January 9, 1934 — August 26, 2023

Bountiful, UT

As the sun set Saturday evening August 26, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Wilma Jean Winter, 89, passed from our presence and was welcomed into the arms of her husband, parents, brothers, and son in law.  Though sad for us to see her leave, her reunion with others in the beyond must have been incredible.

Wilma was born in Smithfield, Utah to William Geroge Crockett and Mary Ann Cole.  Wilma’s father passed away from a farm accident when she was just 2 years old.  Wilma always had fond memories of growing up with her brothers and loved and cherished how they always looked out for her.

In her early life, Wilma worked in Smithfield at the movie house and the canning factory.  Wilma became a licensed Beautician.  She enjoyed doing hair for family, friends, and neighbors at her home.

Wilma met her husband Farrell Rosequist Winter at a dance in Cache Valley and were married in the Logan LDS Temple on September 20th, 1957.  They soon bought a house in Bountiful, Utah and made Bountiful their lifelong home.  The new couple was soon busy raising three kids in close succession… Lynette, Gary, and Kaye.

Wilma worked at the Davis County Clipper and then Carr’s Printing for many years.  Wilma was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings.  Her favorite calling was working in the church library.  She loved visiting family and friends in the Smithfield area and returned there as frequently as she could.  Going to the “Brother’s Dinners” with Farrell’s brothers and wives was always a fun time. Wilma loved the Jazz and watching their games on TV.  She loved to cook, and she always made Thanksgiving and Sunday meals something special for everyone to enjoy.  She loved to look at cookbooks and dabble in new recipes.

Wilma is survived by her three children… Lynette (Paul) Gines, Gary, Kaye (David – deceased) Nystrom.  Wilma’s lifetime joy was her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  She loved their visits and the time she spent with them, and they loved her too.  Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Farrell Rosequist Winter, parents, brothers (Norman, Ray, Eldon, and Dee), and son-in-law (David Nystrom).

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Barton Creek Senior Living and Utah Home Health and Hospice for their special care, love, and the dignity that they provided to Wilma during her time of need and their wonderful support for our family.

A viewing will be held Friday, September 1st, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary in Bountiful, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at the Bountiful 31st Ward chapel, 585 East Center St., Bountiful, Utah.  A graveside service and interment will be at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah, at noon.
