SANDY, UTAH. Yvonne Strebel (86), passed away due to the effects of Parkinson ‘s disease. Born in Neisse, Germany the only child of Charlotte Weisser and Paul Hilarius Neufeldt; raised by loving grandparents Emil and Maria Neufeldt.
At the end of World War II, she fled alone to Munich, was introduced to the LDS church and her future husband Rudolf H. Strebel. She was baptized in 1952, immigrated to the US in 1954, married Rudy in Washington DC December 22, 1954; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.
Yvonne loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully. She was a gifted Gospel teacher and, with Rudy, served missions as a German tour guide on Temple Square; in the Church membership department; in Bayreuth, Germany; and in the Frankfurt and Swiss Temples. She spoke several languages, enjoyed reading and learning, and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to their children.
Preceded in death by her oldest daughter Judy (Kevin) Hague. Survived by her husband, daughters Barbara (Richard) Goff, Patricia (David) Mercer and son Mark (Karen) Strebel, 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Canyon View Stake Center, 2110 N. Main Street, Centerville on Saturday, January 25th at 12:00 pm. A viewing will precede the services from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Interment at the Memorial Estates Lake View Cemetery, Bountiful Utah. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
