Zella Snow

May 19, 1933 — April 11, 2014

Bountiful, Utah. Zella Huntsman Snow died peacefully on April 11, 2014, at 80 years of age, after a long battle with End Stage Renal Disease. She was born May 19, 1933 in Torrey, Utah where she lived until she met and married Merrill Snow, from Teasdale, Utah, in the Manti Temple December 27, 1950. She was the daughter of James Clarence and Myrtle Voilet Morrill Huntsman.
Zella had unwavering faith and a pure love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Though she served in many callings in the Bountiful 27th Ward her great love was participating in the Church’s Name Extraction program where she served tirelessly for many years. It is estimated that she extracted over 250,000 names. Zella was also active in the PTA during her children’s school years, serving as President for one year.
Zella was an excellent seamstress, had a deep love of reading, enjoyed playing the piano, and had an affinity for the music of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. She had an independent spirit and although she suffered many health ailments during her life, including Congestive Heart Failure, and later, Kidney failure, which she fought during last 6 ½ years of her life, she rarely complained. She was a positive inspiration to all who knew her during these difficult times. She often thanked her children, doctors, caregivers, and friends, as well as her visiting teachers, home teachers, and other ward members for their kindness and service on her behalf. Ever gracious, she could often be heard saying, “You take such good care of me.”
Zella has 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and is survived by her children, Shirley Moulton, Kaysville, Utah; Mark Snow (Blanca), Bountiful, Utah; Spencer Snow (Deanne),Idaho Falls, Idaho; Lois Krum, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Marilyn Whitchurch (Michael) American Fork, Utah; and by her sisters Ina Squire (Meade), Cedar Hills, Utah; and Rhea Nelson, Loa, Utah.
Zella is preceded in death by her parents James Clarence and Myrtle Voilet Morrill Huntsman, her husband Merrill Snow, her son, Raymond Snow (Pat), her granddaughter Stephanie Moulton, her brother LaVar Huntsman, and her sister Joy Clarke.
The Family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the caring Waikoloa (formerly Sante) Assisted Living staff, in Bountiful, Utah where she called “home,” for the last 4 ½ years. Thanks also to the Bridlewood Ward members who befriended Zella through visiting teaching, Sacrament Meetings, and Relief Society. A special thanks to her dear friend of over 55 years, Louise Gordon, of Bountiful, Utah.
