Our beloved mother, grandma and great grandma, Zolene Chatterley Walker returned to her heavenly home on December 7, 2020 at the age of 89. She passed away in her home while being cared for by her loving children after a battle with dementia.
Zolene was born on February 15, 1931 to Morton and Carrie Chatterley in Kanab Utah. She graduated from Kanab High School in 1949 where she was very involved in student government. She met Orlo Benjamine Walker on a blind date in Green River Wyoming. They were later married for time and all eternity in the Saint George Utah Temple on July 12, 1950. They raised 6 boys and 1 daughter in Bountiful and later settled in Centerville Utah. Zolene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel and loved her Savior. She held many callings in the church, her favorite being with the Young Women. She especially loved girls camp. Zolene and Orlo served missions in Ghana Africa, Oakland California and Columbus Ohio. Her strong faith in God never wavered despite her many trials, she continued to always express gratitude for all her blessings.
Zolene enjoyed traveling, camping, reading, but her greatest love was quilting. Each one of her children, grandchildren, and many others have a quilt made by her loving hands with the help of her friends. Fritter Fridays and daily drink runs provided lasting memories among the best of friends. Sunday nights at Grandma’s house are a cherished memory. She spoiled us with poor man cookies, chocolate pudding and lots of love.
She is survived by her children, Ben (Lynette) Walker, Jim (Marianne) Walker, Bill (Dara) Walker, Tom (Sandy) Walker, Don (Mary) Walker, Kris (Darrin) Robinson, 26 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, her beloved dog Maddie, and her siblings Lois Whiting and Louis Chatterley. Preceded in death by her husband Orlo, son Mark, parents, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
We sincerely want to thank her Visiting Angel, Carrie Shires, who truly was her angel, for the loving care and friendship she gave to our mom. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Parrish Canyon Relief Society for their compassionate service, as well as Stefanie and Ashlie from Hospice for their tender care.
